Philly Coalition to Save Chinatown Creates Joyous Video

There’s no better way to popularize a cause than to create a video that conveys the spirit of the people fighting to save their community.  This is exactly what the Philly Community Access Media released today. Produced by the No Arena in Chinatown Solidarity group (NACS Philly), this parody music video was an all-volunteer and extremely lively labor of love and commitment, including people who have been fighting predatory development plans in many parts of the city and over many years, and people who are newly activated by and furious about this latest affront to Chinatown, a precious community of color. Increasing numbers of creative and skilled people are contributing their talents to this movement to #SaveChinatown. Representatives from No Arena in Chinatown, Asian Americans United, Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance, POWER Interfaith, Students for the Preservation of Chinatown, Save the UC Townhomes, Positive Movement Entertainment, and Philly CAM joined together to create a parody music video encouraging public opposition to the proposed arena that billionaires want to build in the heart of our city, which would threaten the existence of Chinatown and small businesses in the surrounding area.
